The Rally Experience

Do you like a challenge?

We in ICA have recently completed Wainwrights Coast to Coast a distance of 192 miles. From St. Bees on the west coast to Robin Hoods Bay on the east coast.

Future challenges include the Channel to Channel a distance of 117 miles from Wembury on the Devon south coast via Dartmoor & Exmoor to Lynmouth on the north Somerset coast.

The Offa's Dyke Trail a distance of 177 miles from Chepstow on the Bristol Channel to Prestatyn on the north Wales coast.

Of course we do also offer less challenging walking rallies where the walks are more leisurely and usually include some social activities, these are not restricted to the UK, as we have recently visited Chamonix, the Auvergne and the Il de Rey in France and future rallies are planned for Spain and Austria.

We are one of the few organisations offering these types of walking rally organised by you the members so no expensive guides to pay for.

For those that don't want a challenge we have the general interest rallies that are usually held in a great location both in the UK and overseas with lots of interesting places to visit coupled with some meals out and the ICA "happy hour" where the days activities are discussed normally with a glass of wine.

Finally if you just wish to meet up with your friends over lunch or dinner we have our informal 'get togethers'.

Rallies are also offered by our overseas members especially our New Zealand and Dutch members.

Organising a rally

Everyone can run a rally. We all know the places and surrounds where we live and there must be an interesting building, cathedral, perhaps a shipbuilding works that our members would be interested to see and many organise town walks in the holiday season. Book a campsite, get leaflets from the tourist information office (1 of each per unit), arrange a meet and greet and book a restaurant for a final meal, job done – a simple social gathering.

You might feel able to do something more perhaps encompassing one of the following:

  • Social
  • Cycling
  • Themed
  • Overseas travel
  • Walking
  • Craft, painting or photography
  • Day gatherings/lunch
  • Winter sun
  • Golf
  • Bird watching

Perhaps you could visit our Rally Recycling Centre where you can choose to run a rally similar to one that has been run in the past thereby benefiting from other peoples research (campsites, transport, restaurants, visits, walks/activities, telephone numbers, etc.).
