Dabble in Dorset
Sunday 15th - Wednesday 25th May 2016
We were greeted in the warm sunshine with coffee or tea and Dorset apple cake to get us in the holiday mood. A delicious welcome meal in the attractive setting of the Crane Valley Golf Club was much appreciated and the noise level indicated that there was a lot of catching up of news going on.
Happy hours were spent either sitting around on the field during nice days or in the site recreation room on inclement ones, both providing an opportunity for social gatherings.
One could be forgiven for thinking the rally revolved round food and drink as we enjoyed a fish and chip supper and a cream tea ably arranged by the stewards. Janet and Sue’s scrummy home made scones were followed by regally decorated fruit cakes and a royal toast to celebrate the queen’s 90th birthday.
The midweek trip on the Corfe to Swanage steam railway was a good day out with attractive views of the Jurassic coast and the Isle of Purbeck. A walk to a nearby Country Park, with a cafe on route of course, and a Boules match enabled a few calories to be burnt off.
Various members enjoyed trips to Wimborne, Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Salisbury and other lovely places too numerous to mention.
A final meal at the Golf Club provided an enjoyable evening
with good food and good company. Prizes were awarded for the devilishly hard anagrams quiz and the guess the film quiz which taxed the ability of the drawers and the guessers. The Boules competition was won by Ted and Janet Elgar after a close final supported by most of the Ralliers.
A big thank you to Janet, Ted, Sue and Trevor for a very enjoyable holiday.
