WALKING IN WAINWRIGHT'S COAST to COAST     20 June - 13 July 2010

Rally Officers: Sandy and Jo Sanderson Email: sandy.sanderson@virgin.net

Assistant Rally Officers: Ted and Jan Elgar Email: janandtedelgar@yahoo.co.uk

This is the walk made famous by Alfred Wainwright. We start at St. Bees on the Irish Sea and end 200 miles to the east at Robin Hood’s Bay on the North Sea. Our adventure crosses three National Parks and The Pennines.

We will use 4 campsites and so there will be moving days as well as rest days. Transport to and from walks will be by a 16 seater coach. Walks vary from 11 to 16 miles per day. Some days there will be significant ascent and descent. The pace will be steady with the clear objective of everyone doing the whole crossing successfully. However this rally is only suitable for those used to and equipped for hill walking. Also we will be asking participants to recce and lead on some sections. This announcement is unusually early so that rallier’s have time to conduct recce’s.

Maximum eight outfits.

To express an interest in this adventure please contact the Rally Officers by letter or email only

Chief Rally Officers: Mike & Heather Reed
Email: mjhreed@aol.com

The Summer Rally will this year be held at a modern school in Dorset with excellent facilities but no electric hookups.  Sherborne is a delightful stone town richly endowed with beautiful buildings and historical character, has an Abbey dating back to 706 and boasts two castles – one sacked by Oliver Cromwell’s army and the other originally built as a Hunting Lodge by Sir Walter Raleigh.
This Rally is designed to be a simple short get-together in place of our traditional Tours and Events Rallies. Bearing in mind the favourable comments received by members following the Ruby Rally it is intended to provide a relaxed low key atmosphere with plenty of opportunity to chat and enjoy ourselves over a glass of wine, which will be provided at each of our “Happy Hours”, in the modern conference centre. In addition to this there will be a buffet supper on the Saturday evening.
There will be an opportunity to visit Bath by coach – this will be available at a small additional cost.
The inclusive cost of the Rally (excluding optional coach trip) will be as follows:-
Per unit            £66.00
Solos                         £50.00
